Why
NukAlert?
" This is a patented, matchbox sized, key-chain attachable,
personal radiation monitoring and alarming device. With a
ten year battery it is always "ON" 24/7 continuously
monitoring the local environment of the user."

Specifications of the NukAlert
 |
Detectable
Radiation: Gamma and X-ray from 40 keV
to 2 MeV |
 |
Ranges: 100mR/hr
to 50R/hr indicated in 10 ranges |
 |
Indication: Repeating
groups of rapid countable chirps (up to 9 chirps
per group). Each additional chirp in an alarm group
indicates doubling of the measured dose rate. Alarm
measurement groups are repeated about twice per
minute |
 |
Operational indicator:
faint "ticking" when functioning but not
alarming |
 |
Alarm loudness:
~ 61 dBA (conversational level, for battery conservation)
|
 |
Durability: functional
after 6 foot drop to concrete, submersion to 6'
depth |
 |
Battery: Operational
Life Expectancy
Non-alarming (monitor mode - ticking) - 10 to 15
years
Alarming continuously at single chirp level - 3
years
Alarming continuously at highest alarm level - 3
months (fatal dose < 12 hrs) |
 |
Detector: patented
CdS photo resistor coupled to a rare earth phosphor
scintillator |
|
 |
 |
Housing:
hermetically sealed, radiation transparent, abrasion
resistant ABS plastic |
 |
Accuracy: Within
+/- 1 chirp |
 |
Response Time:
Dose rate dependent, faster at higher doses
~3 to 4 min. @100mr/hr, seconds in the R/hr ranges
|
 |
Accumulated dose chart printed
on back, time @ alarm rate till 100R dose. |
 |
EMP immunity:
tested to meet MIL-STD-461D, RS105 |
 |
Over range survivability:
Functional after 5000 R/hr. for 2 hour duration. |
 |
Temperature Range:
(-20 degrees C) to (+50 degrees C) Specified accuracy
at temperature equilibrium between 0 and 40 degrees
C, alarm can be briefly activated by very rapid
temperature increase so as to hear what the alarm
sounds like |

Physical: Length
1.75in., width 1.25 in., 3/4in thick, Weight <1.0
oz. |

A Community NukAlert Program
 |
To support all American
communities in the restoration of effective local Civil
Defense, KI4U, Inc.
has developed a nationwide Civil Defense Community NukAlert
Program.
Any civic minded individual or local organization,
public or private, is invited to obtain a quantity of
modern radiation monitoring instruments through this
new essential Program at a fraction of current retail
pricing.
|
Distribution
Anyone can take advantage of this program on behalf of their
own community. Local government agencies, civic business associations,
church groups, volunteer fire depts, PTA's, Ham radio groups,
Boy & Girl Scout Troops, individuals, etc. may obtain
these radiological meters and their easy-to-understand operational
and response booklets.
They may then decide for themselves how best to distribute
them, whether they should be donated, or even sold, and at
what price. Ideally, every family in every community should
have one, but at the very minimum every community should have
some. Even just a few per neighborhood would be a vital tie-in
with their local authorities, reporting their local instrument
readings in an emergency. Other groups may donate them to
their local volunteer fire dept or law enforcement agencies.
Individuals may even re-sell them locally, understanding the
wisdom of being surrounded by an early-warning ring of educated
and well equipped neighbors.
Our goal for the Community NukAlert Program is simple
- to have every possible American community, and thus individual
families, equipped for their own local protection.
The radiological instrument selected for this national Community
Civil Defense program is our most popular NukAlert that retails
for $160.00 each and has already been purchased by thousands
of American families, as well as government agencies.
NOTE: Any large quantities will only be
available prior to a nuclear emergency 'event' occurring anywhere
in the world. KI4U, Inc. has been quickly sold-out before,
and once by the Federal Government, and likely will again
when that day comes that 'nobody will ever forget'.
